Connecting to self through personal experiences allows students to start their art and design practice from a real and personal place. Students were guided to explore their own voice and to examine situations and circumstances of personal experiences, and locate them within a larger sphere of culture, social, and human connections. Through investigation, students learned about historical and contemporary artists and their processes and strategies and applied specific influences to their own artmaking practice. Each unit in the curriculum addressed a topic with open-ended options to develop concepts and artworks, with skill development.
